It's good to talk...
...however, some days you just don't have the time to phone print providers and repeat the same brief over and over again. That's where our Tender System comes in. It allows you to submit your project for response from all interested registered printers. Click here to find out more.
Don't just take our word for it...

Local business, small and large benefitted from the City Fringe Partnership’s Funds for Print support programme between April 2006 and March 2009. Click here for case studies highlighting some local success stories.

Green means business...

There are now a range of accreditations available to printers who want to demonstrate their commitment to green business practices. If your company has also committed to strong environmental policies then they offer you an easy way of finding like-minded suppliers.

Accreditations also help you assess a business’s awareness of modern practices. After all, high environmental standards invariably reflect the overall quality of a business’s general working practices. The environmental accreditations you are most likely to encounter include:

Monitoring paper and other wood-based products

Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification
The world's largest environmental certification system, the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) helps purchasers of wood and paper products promote the sustainable management of forests. PEFC certification therefore means the paper they use comes from sustainable sources and is not negatively impacting the number of trees on the planet - and thus the Earth’s ability to process CO2. Forest Stewardship Council
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international organisation that aims to promote responsible stewardship of the world’s forests. It operates through a network of National Initiatives in 45 countries who can certify forest managers and forest product producers to FSC standards. Several thousand products are now produced using FSC-certified wood carrying the FSC trademark, so if your printer is using them you know they are taking their green commitments seriously. Business processes and environmental management standards

British Standards Institution - ISO14001
The British Standards Institution (BSI) develops best-practice business standards for firms such as printers. These include ISO 14001, an internationally recognised standard that sets out how printers can put an effective Environmental Management System (EMS) in place. The standard is designed to help businesses reduce their environmental impact and maintain a focus on profitability. It is a very thorough procedure which demonstrates a printer's dedication to achieving high standards. For more information click here.

Eco-Management and Audit Scheme
The Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) is a voluntary initiative designed to improve companies’ environmental performance. It aims to recognise and reward organisations that go beyond minimum legal compliance and continuously improve their environmental performance. Very popular in the EU as an environmental marketing tool, it is seen as an enhancement to ISO 14001 as it requires an additional (audited) environmental ‘statement’ each year. IMEA Acorn Scheme
The IEMA Acorn Scheme is an officially recognised Environmental Management System (EMS) standard recommended by the Government. It offers accredited recognition for organisations who evaluate and improve their environmental performance. A key part of this is BS 8555, a six-stage approach to implementing a generic EMS. Popular with small businesses, it can be used as a route towards ISO14001 and EMAS. For more information click here.
